Anke is a warm hearted researcher that is interested in the “artistic attitude”. How do artists look and work and what can this unique way of working and being teach us. She has an open mind and makes a bridge between artists, the academic world and the workfield. Anke her main research field nowadays involves elderly people and their living surroundings. 
Where is she going with her research practice?
Her deep interest lies in the different ways artists collaborate with non-artists. And she is wondering: are we entering a new paradigm, one that leaves behind the idea of the artists working in the neoliberal context of finances and fame, and are we entering an era in which artists not only share the output of their artistik work, but also the skills and attitudes that form the basic of their practices? Within ARC she is not only stuydying it, but she is also part of that suppopsed paradigmshift.
What is her role in the ARC community? 
She is an observer, critical and inspirational voice, connects the arc with other instititions, initiator of (research) projects,…
What is she focusing on in ARC in the coming year or two?
Sheis focussed on developing the theoretical base of artistic research within the context of the professorship Image in Context of the research center Art & Society of Hanze UAS. She is also very focussed on the placement of the members of the organization in a broader research context for them to develop further their personal artistic research goals and objectives.
What is she doing together with other ARCers?
Anke creates opportunities, she does this by really listening, opening up and thinking about the sounds, needs and ways of thinking within the ARC community. Anke connects the potential of the ARC to opportunities outside of the ARC. She is the connector, the positive force of our community.

VULNERABILITY & ARTISTIC RESEARCH Seminar with Tale Næss & Maziar Raein

This talk will address the role of vulnerability in relation to the practice of artistic research and the challenge of developing new artistic knowledge. Vulnerability runs across the gamut of the private, personal and public realms – especially in relation to the artistic institutions which we engage with through our practices.
By its nature vulnerability invites ethical reflections, and here we will explore the ethics of change and reciprocity as focal points. Moreover, we will also touch on to the concepts of ownership and disinheritance as social stratagems which are often tacit, and effect the territories and discourses we are asked to explore and occupy.

For this 1st session we are happy to welcome Kristoffer Gansing (Professor of the newly formed ‘International Center for Knowledge in the Arts’ (and former Artistic Director of the Transmediale festival) to share his thoughts on artistic research in a panel discussion together with ARCers Hermen Maat and Simona Kicurovska, who will present their research and share their views on empathy and embodiment.
